Ever felt helpless?

This past Friday I was home all day with John Michael. Around 12:30'ish we went out and sat on the front porch for a bit. While we were out there I noticed our neighbor across the street, two houses down leave. I thought nothing of it. About 3o minutes later I went into John Michaels room and noticed I had not opened his blinds when he got up from his nap. When I opened them, I saw an enormous amount of smoke coming from somewhere around that same neighbor's house but couldn't tell if it was on the other side of the garage or where. I called our neighbor next door and told him to look out his window. He immeidately took off running over there because he knows the guy (they are both police officers and both work the night shift and sleep during the day). About that same time a passerby drove up also. The house was on fire! I continued to stand on my porch and literally watched this house go up in flames in a matter of minutes. Within 10 minutes the entire top of the house was blazing and all you could see was orange flames and black smoke. What do you do? I felt more helpless than I can ever remember feeling. I am watching this family lose everything they own and at the moment we don't even know if the guy is in there asleep or not. Thank God he wasn't. It was him that I had seen leave earlier to go and have lunch with his son at Huntington. Count your blessings everyday!

Oh my goodness, Regina! That is crazy. I'm so glad that he wasn't there.

I hope we can get together soon...Thursday night...barring any sickness!
